Question 1

How long does it take to learn Microsoft Power BI?

Accepted Answer

Most beginners can build basic Power BI dashboards in 2 to 3 weeks. Mastering DAX calculations, Star Schema data modeling, and performance optimization typically takes 2 to 3 months of hands-on practice.

Question 2

Do I need to learn SQL and Excel before learning Power BI?

Accepted Answer

Basic Excel familiarity helps with understanding tabular data, and basic SQL knowledge makes data ingestion easier, but neither is strictly required. You can learn Power Query and DAX directly inside Power BI.

Question 3

Accepted Answer

Yes! Power BI Desktop is 100% free to download and use indefinitely on Windows for creating reports, modeling data, and writing DAX measures.
